Good news for Android, iOS, Nook & Kindle users who use OverDrive!
This blog is about new paperless reading materials like downloadable audio books, ebooks, and online magazines, made available to you through the Appleton Public Library. I plan to provide helpful tips on using these new products, along with reviews of audio books, music on cd, and movies on DVD and Blu-ray. There may even be an occasional post on genealogy. The library is changing as rapidly as your access to media and the Internet. We want to keep on top of the trends and bring you information and entertainment in a way that fits your life today. -Diana
The new OverDrive app for Nook enables direct downloading on Nook HD, Nook HD+, Nook Tablet and Nook Color. The free app, OverDrive Media Console, is available from the Nook Store using your Barnes & Noble account. Once downloaded on your device you can open the app, find your local library system, and check out items using your InfoSoup library card and PIN/password. Users are now able to download ebooks and mp3 audio books wirelessly to their device.
Kindle Fire users now may download the OverDrive Media Console app directly from the Amazon App Store for Android. This updated version of OMC also makes it possible to browse the digital collection from within the app.
For Android users, the new versions of the OverDrive Media Console app has a redesigned audiobook player, support for iPhone 5 and ActionBar. If you are a member of Goodreads you will be able to share what you’re reading on that site (currently you can share on Facebook, Twitter and by email).
If you already have OverDrive Media Console installed, an “Update” prompt will appear the next time you open the app. Or go to Amazon App Store for Android, App StoreSM, Google Play or the OverDrive Downloads page.
