Books Build Community - Evicted

Books Build Community fosters shared experiences around a specific book, through formal book clubs and informal book discussions in living rooms, work places, and around town.  The selected books expand dialogue around community initiatives.

The most recent selection is Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City.  Matthew Desmond uses a captivating, narrative style to present the connections among housing, poverty, and eviction, through lived experiences in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Join us for facilitator-led book discussions with Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities at Appleton Public Library at 5:30 p.m. on February 16 and February 23.  Kaukauna Public Library will host a daytime book discussion at 10:00 a.m. on February 14.

The book selection team included representatives from Homeless Connections, Fox Valley Warming Shelter, Appleton Area School District Education for Homeless Children and Youth program, Goodwill Industries, Habitat for Humanity, and Appleton Public Library.

This Books Build Community program is presented by Appleton Public Library with support from Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities, Thrivent Financial - Outagamie County Chapter, and Friends of Appleton Public Library.
