Did You Know? Going Full Circle: A 1,555 Mile Walk Around the World’s Largest Lake
Did you know Mike Link and Kate Crowley were the first people to circumnavigate the Lake Superior shoreline on foot? Mike and Kate are veteran naturalists who undertook a five-month journey counter-clockwise around Lake Superior starting and ending at Duluth, Minnesota. They were featured guests on Wisconsin Public Radio. Going Full Circle: A 1,555 Mile Walk Around the World’s Largest Lake documents their experience. They collected valuable data on water quality, invasive species, ecology, geography, and the social and cultural aspects of Lake Superior throughout their hike. Researchers, educators, outdoorsmen, and others will benefit from their legacy.
APL will be hosting Mike and Kate as they present Going Full Circle on Tuesday, June 25th from 6:00-7:30 pm in our Lower Level Meeting Room. The authors will host a Q&A session and books will be for sale and signing. The Friends of Appleton Public Library and the Northeast Wisconsin Audubon Society will co-sponsor this event. Free admission. Families welcome. For further information, contact 832-6173.
