Wrestlemania Reading Challenge

Here's a reading contest you may not expect. The WWE is offering students in grades 5-12 the chance to win a trip to Wrestlemania 29, including tickets, hotel, transportation to and from East Rutherford, and spending money.

If that sounds good to you, here's what you need to do to enter:

  1. Complete an entry form--you can print one out or pick on up at the Appleton Public Library's Info Desk.
  2. Write a letter using fewer than 100 words to your favorite WWE Superstar, trying to convince him or her to read your favorite book.
  3. Submit your completed entry form and letter to the Appleton Public Library's Info Desk by November 15, 2012.

That's all there is to it! You can read the full rules online, if you'd like more details.

We'll pick one winner from each of three grade-level brackets (grades 5-6, 7-8, 9-12) whose letters will be sent on for consideration at the national level.

And in case you're wondering what the WWE has to do with reading, I wanted to share their promotional video. Their stars are very much into encouraging youth to read.

If you have any questions about this contest, you can get them answered in one of the following ways. Call Brian, the teen librarian, at 832-6353; email teen@apl.org; post your question to our Facebook page; or ask for Brian the next time you visit the library.
