APL provides access to several sites which will allow you to download eBooks, audiobooks, music, and videos. Look for the HELP info for each service, below.

eBook Collection (by EBSCOhost)

Formerly NetLibrary, eBook Collection by EBSCOhost gives you online access to select titles. However, unlike NetLibrary, titles can be downloaded and moved to an eReader; the collection also includes audiobooks (similar to Overdrive)

Hoopla

Getting StartedDownload or stream 5 items each calendar month with no waiting lists. If you see it and you want it, you can have it. Hoopla gives you access to 500,000 movies, tv, music, books*, audiobooks*, and comics. Use Hoopla on your laptop or computer by logging in to the website, or use the Hoopla app on your mobile devices.

Getting Started

2) Click the blue GET STARTED button… you’ll be prompted for the following steps:

4) Search for and select APPLETON PUBLIC LIBRARY

5) Enter your Library Card Number and PIN

6) Click the blue SIGN ME UP button



Using It

1) Login to the site OR open the app
2) Find what you want and click Borrow. It's that easy. Movies, Audiobooks, and TV give you the option to Download to your device (rather than just stream by default) while Books and Comics download automatically.



Check Out Periods

21 days: audiobooks*, books*, & comics
07 days: music
03 days: movies & tv episodes (each episode counts as one download toward your total)
When your checkout period is up, the items will automatically return and be deleted from your device.

 


*Books & Audiobooks: you won’t find a lot of best sellers. Hoopla is actively working with the big 5 publishers, so this may change in the future.

InstantFlix allows anyone with a current, InfoSoup library card to stream thousands of award winning films from more than 2,000 festivals worldwide. Titles include films from festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, and Tribeca.

(formerly known as 'Learn-a-Test')   Practice tests and study aides on a variety of topics. Also includes basic reading, writing, and math skills improvement for school children and adults. You will need your Library card number.

  7. LearningExpress Popular Software Skills Center: a collection of web-based skill-building materials on today’s popular computer programs including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Windows and Mac operating systems.
  8. LearningExpress Recursos para Hispanohablantes: recursos para mejorar sus habilidades escritas, matemáticas, de leer, de ser ciudadano estadounidense, y más.
  9. LearningExpress School Center: a collection of web-based skill-building materials for K-12 students, including how to prepare for tests, boost current skills, and learn new ones.

Mango Languages

Mango Languages is an easy to use and effective language learning tool focusing on everyday conversation. This program provides step by step lesson plans for many, many different languages (including learning English through English as a Second Language programs).  Mango includes specialty, topical courses and non-English movies to help you practice comprehension.

Mango is easy to use and can work on any operating system and with any web browser; the Mango app is free.

OneClickDigital Audiobooks

OneClickdigital provides access to thousands of downloadable audiobook titles published by Recorded Books.

  • No holds or waiting: download the games you want to your computer and play them whenever and wherever you are – no internet required*
  • Login can be used anywhere and on multiple devices
  • Parents can set a different password from the account to approve activation of game
  • Games check-out for one month. Towards the end of the check-out period, you should receive an email asking if you want to renew for another month. If you don't renew, the game is removed from your computer and game panel.

Overdrive WI Digital Library

Downloadable audiobooks, music, eBooks, and videos. A total of 10 items may be checked out and 10 additional items placed on hold for a single account. You will likely encounter Hold Lists for some digital titles; we do not have unlimited access to digital titles.
