1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

 

Pick up your sheets at the Children's Service Desk or print them from our webpage. Redeem each sheet of 100 books at the Children's Service Desk for a small prize. When you redeem the last sheet, for books 900-1,000, you'll receive another prize and a certificate for finishing. We will check registration before handing out the last prize and certificate.

100 Picture Book Challenge

Pick up your list of the 100 best picture books at the Children's Service Desk or click the link above to print it. Redeem your list at the Children's Service Desk and receive a prize and certificate.  We will check registration before handing out the prize and certification.

Using the list, read through 100 picture books and check them off as you go. Reading includes being read to, reading independently or listening to an audiobook of the story.

Under each title fill in your favorite part of the story - parents and caregivers can do this for you. There are bonus staff reads at the end that are not necessary to complete. When you finish the list redeem it at the Children's Service Desk. A completion certificate and small prize will be awarded.

Great Children's Novel Challenge

Registration is required.
Registration Details: 

Registration begins on September 4, 2012 at 9:00am. Contact the Children's desk at (920) 832-6187 or click here to register.  You MUST be registered in order to earn any incentives.  Students must be in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade to participate.

Great Children's Novel Challenge

Pick up your reading list of classic/contemporary literature at the Children's Service Desk or print it from the link above. Review 24 books within this 12 month window (September 4, 2012 - September 3, 2013). Twelve novels must be from the library's list. You may listen to audiobooks. Receive an incentive and be entered in a drawing for a Nexus 7 tablet - you must be registered in order to earn any prizes/incentives.

Reviews must answer the following three questions, and do not need to be on library supplied paper:

  • What was your favorite/least favorite part of this book?
  • What was the conflict in the book?
  • How was the conflict resolved?

Reviews should be at least eight full length sentences long. Please be sure to include your full name and phone number on every review you submit. Reviews may be turned in one at a time, or all at once. Every review will be read by the children's librarian. All books reviewed must be novels, and must be at the participant's reading level.

The drawing will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
