In-Library Appointments

FAQ

Can I sign up for multiple appointments?
You may sign up for one appointment at a time. Once you’ve gone to your appointment, you may schedule a new appointment.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please call library staff if you need to cancel your appointment – (920) 832-6173. We will do our best to reschedule you.

What if I am late for my appointment?
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for a computer appointment, you may not be able to utilize your entire allotted hour. We encourage you to call and schedule another appointment for that or any other missed appointments.

Why aren’t all your services available?
The safety of both the public and our staff is of utmost importance. Our plans include a gradual reopening of the building as we continue to follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines for safe reopening practices, as well as recommendations from our state and local departments of health. We are prioritizing in-house services to those that provide the most support to our community’s economic recovery, while making sure we can still provide a safe environment for our community and staff.

Why are face masks required?
We are making every effort to provide a safe environment for patrons and staff. Face masks, in conjunction with social distancing and increased cleaning routines, will allow us to provide a more hygienic environment for those that are utilizing the library's in-building services.

Can I return materials?
Yes, our outdoor book drop is open. Materials checked out before the building closed (not materials checked out via curbside) have a due date of Monday, July 13.

Can I still use curbside service to pick up material?
Yes. Our curbside service is still available.

What are other available services and hours?
We are currently available to answer phone calls (832-6173 or 832-6177) and emails (askus@apl.org) between these hours:

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

We have over 100 digital resources available, including downloadable materials, streaming videos, educational and recreational classes, and more. Visit www.apl.org/e/a-z to learn more.  We have also extended our WIFI reach and free WIFI is now available in our parking lot.

In addition, our staff has created a ton of online programming. Check out our online calendar to see all the great offerings.

When you arrive at the library at your reserved time, please enter the building and proceed to the welcome desk. Wait for a host to greet you. They will ask for your name and requested service and then direct you to the designated location for your appointment.

Please keep in mind the following guidelines for appointment services

  • Please refrain from service if you are sick. Service may be denied or revoked for patrons who are visibly ill.
  • A face mask must be worn.
  • Social distancing guidelines must be followed at all times while in the building.
  • Admittance will be for stated service only.
  • With the exception of family group reservations, each appointment is limited to one person.
  • While every effort has been made to ensure a safe and clean experience, the use of the library is at your own risk.
  • No food or drink in the library.
  • No browsing of the collection will be allowed at this time.
  • Computer sessions will be limited to one hour.
  • Reasonable help will be provided, but staff may not provide a level of assistance that would require them to touch your computer or manipulate your mouse.
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you may not be able to utilize your entire allotted hour of computer time.

If for some reason you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please call 920-832-6173; or, you can manage your booking with the link provided to you in your email confirmation and reminders.

Hold Pick-Ups are no longer by appointment. You may walk-in to the Library (wearing a mask) after 10:30am to pick up your holds; there may be a wait or a line before a staff member is available to assist you. Afternoons tend to be less busy than mornings for Holds pick-up.

We greatly encourage you to call ahead first to ensure your items are actually on the Hold shelf and aren't still in quarantine (920-832-6173). The system automatically emails you that your items are ready as soon as they arrive at APL even though they still have to go through several days' quarantine; unfortunately, we cannot adjust the current system's email alerts to make them wait until your items are out of quarantine. This may change in August when the new InfoSoup is implemented.

The library building will reopen for appointment-based services on Wednesday, July 1. Available services include: public computer/printing sessions; copying, scan to email, and faxing services; registration for new library cards; and notary services. Some services will be unavailable during the first reopening phase – see the list below.

  • In-depth Staff Help

In addition, we will have appointments available Monday-Saturday from 9:00 am – 10:15 am for at-risk and senior populations.

To schedule your appointment, please call us at (920) 832-6173.
