New Blood Pressure Hub Expands Health-Related Resources
We’re excited to announce a new, publicly accessible blood pressure machine located on our upper level. The machine and health-related resources are made possible through the generous support of the Life’s a Journey Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in partnership with the American Heart Association.
According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure affects nearly one in three adults in Northeast Wisconsin and is a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Often called the “silent killer,” it typically has no symptoms, making regular monitoring critical.
The new blood pressure hub offers free, easy-to-use monitoring, along with educational materials to help understand readings and connect with additional care if needed. We also have blood pressure devices you can check out to use at home.
The installation reflects the American Heart Association’s commitment to removing barriers to cardiovascular health by placing monitoring tools in trusted, accessible community spaces.
“We’re thrilled to bring this resource to the Appleton community,” American Heart Association Development Director Mark Charter said. “By offering convenient access to accurate monitoring tools, we’re empowering people to take an active role in managing their health.”
The blood pressure hub also reinforces our mission by providing resources to support the health and well-being of our community.
“Appleton Public Library is proud to partner with the American Heart Association to offer this new service to our patrons,” said Kenneth Mack, Adult Services and Engagement Librarian. “The blood pressure hub aims to support and expand health-related resources for our community.”
The American Heart Association encourages residents to stop by the hub to check their blood pressure regularly, learn more about cardiovascular risk factors, and access resources to support healthier living.
