Library Board & Policies

The library board of trustees is a citizen board compromised of members with varying backgrounds and perspectives. Established under state law by the City of Appleton, the board includes one City of Appleton Alderperson, one Appleton Area School District representative, and eight additional members appointed by the mayor. Appointments, composition, and terms of office are in accordance with Chapter 43 of the Wisconsin Statutes.    

The board makes budget and policy decisions and oversees the staff.

Budget

Budget

The great majority of funds expended on the library come from the City of Appleton annual budget.

Additional money is provided through various community and Friends of Appleton Public Library grants submitted by library staff. Outagamie County’s budget agreement with the Outagamie Waupaca Library System also funds the library.

Library Board of Trustee meetings are held the Tuesday before the third Wednesday of every month at 4:30 pm in the library administration board room, except where noted. Board meetings are open to the public. Previous board meetings can be viewed online.
