    Limited Notary Public services are available at the Appleton Public Library at no charge.

    Please call 832-6179 prior to coming to confirm staff availability. 

    Notary Publics at the library can only provide the following services:

    signature witnessing

    copy certification 

    Patrons must provide a valid (not expired) government-issued ID to receive notary services. Notary Publics at the library cannot notarize official documents.  

    Please note that Appleton Public Library notaries cannot fulfill requests to complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms. Completion of the I-9 form is not a notary function. Notaries do not receive training on how to confirm who is eligible to work legally within the U.S. and could be held liable by the Department of Homeland Security if any mistakes were made in completing the form.  

    If a library Notary Public is unavailable, the City Clerk’s office, located on the 6th floor of City Hall at 100 N Appleton Street also provides free notary service during regular City Hall business hours – 8 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
